Here's a quick video that shows how to quickly and easily modify a plastic figure, in this case a miniature from the Perry's DAK box set.

  2. Did they carry the Schmeisser mags on that side? That would mean a right hand mag change while holding the smg in the left hand. Ok, ok, it's only a model :0)

    Much admire your medievals.

  3. Hi Nobby, thanks and you have a good point. Using the power of Googe 'All Hail' Images I found that they did. Type in 'German NCO with MP-40' into your search engine and have a look, interesting photos.

  4. Yep, they seem to be front carried, don't they?
That makes a left or right hand mag change quicker than with them on the back of the belt, but the smg magazine release button seems to be on the left so a left hand change would probably be normal.

This reminds me of model railway and vintage car rivet counting and I swore I'd never do that! Sorry, Matt.

  5. Don't worry about the rivet counting, I always appreciate constructive criticism.

It does initially seem an awkward place to access your ammunition clips. However saying that, most of my research for these DAK figures is based purely on watching 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark'. ;)

  6. I had an Uncle who fought the real DAK. He didn't like them at all :0)
A school friend's father actually brought a Schmeisser home from the war. It was hard to match my mates firepower with a cowboy pistol in the back gardens of South East London when we were young. :0)

    1. A real Schmeisser certainly beats my dirt bombs and small tree branch for a rifle. Thinking about it, even your cowboy pistol beats them hands down!

  7. God stuff Matt. Watching your videos reminds me that I have some of my own to work on. I've also enjoyed your heraldry on the 28mm figures. You've got a very steady hand.

    1. Thanks Sean. Painting heraldry was starting to make my eyes ache so I'm easing up on it for a while but thee will be more to come soon.
