Completed Sconce - Star Fort

These models are inspired after a visit to Fort Royal, Worcester and are based on a illustration of Queens Sconce in Newark in Osprey’s ‘English Civil War Fortifications 1642-51 (Volume 9 of Fortress range).  The items were completed in October last year but I'd forgotten all about them.  After a tidy up they were unearthed and painted.

  1. Hi Christopher,
Thanks for the comment. I'm pleased with the end model but I’m not entirely sure the Osprey illustration it's based on, is accurate as all the pictures from the period (in the same book!) show a different construction method.

  2. Hi Matt,

I'm a school teacher, in Newark on trent, about to start a local history topic. Your model is a great example of a the Queen's Sconce, would you mind us using your pictures as an example of the fortification Also if you have a link to the original Osprey illustration that would be great.
